Federal and state laws require that you inspect your vehicle before and after operation. The most important reason for this is that an inspection limits the chance of a breakdown on the road that will cost time and money, or even worse, cause a crash that harms you or other people. At American Truck Training, we teach you everything you need to know to perform vehicle inspections.

At American Truck Training, we take the risks and regulations associated with transporting hazardous materials seriously. All commercial drivers are trained on the security and risks of hazardous materials transportation, as well as how to respond to possible threats. During your training at American Truck Training, you will learn the health, safety and property risks associated with this type of work, as well as the federal and state government regulations associated with the handling of hazardous materials.

To drive a commercial vehicle safely, you must be able to control it. This means understanding vehicle maneuvers like accelerating, steering, stopping and backing. You’ll also learn how to recover your vehicle should tire or brake failure occur and what to do in the event of an accident.

During your driving test, you will be scored on specific driving maneuvers as well as on your general driving behavior. If your test route does not have certain traffic situations, your examiner may ask you to simulate a traffic situation. You will do this by telling the examiner what you are or would be doing if you were in that traffic situation.
